From The Principal

Welcome to our fourth week of Term Three everybody and our new look, Wavelength newsletter.

Our goals as a school are centred around our students reaching their own levels of personal excellence in all areas of our school; whether those goals are academic, in the arts, cultural, sporting or in service to others. As a school, we continue to develop the support that is necessary for your children to flourish.

For all of our students, it is a critical stage of the year. For our Year 13 students and some of our Year 12 students, the focus is on completing their schooling and ensuring the qualification they finish school with is one that will enable them to achieve their life goals, particularly in the near future. With 11 teaching weeks left there is still much that can be achieved with effort, dedication, discipline and support from the school and at home.

For students in other year levels, soon there are choices to be made that will shape their futures.

We place a strong emphasis on our culture of care, so we have gone to great lengths to ensure that we support and advise our students on their future direction. From our recently held ‘Future Pathways’ evening, our ‘Subject Selection’ evening to the work that we are doing to educate our students around prospective careers in our Atawhai groups, our students are supported to succeed.

As parent/caregivers, I encourage you to make time to have discussions with your children about subject choices and goals and also with staff at our school so that together we provide a platform that sees our learners continue to develop into happy, resilient and successful people.

Nga mihi,

CJ Healey
