Endless Dance Show 2024
“Creative, amazing, and seamless” are just a few words from the sold-out audiences of the Endless Dance Show. The annual event showcased a variety of dance genres and styles from Year 9 to Year 13 students over three spectacular nights. With 160 students involved and 33 captivating performances, the show was a resounding success from beginning to end, bursting with energy and passion. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, helped, and supported the show—we couldn’t have done it without you.
The Wolves
What a performance! The Senior Drama Company proudly presented their interpretation of The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe over a two-night show run. Produced in just four weeks, the energy, commitment, and passion delivered by the cast of 10 talented seniors were incredible. The play explored themes of friendship, loyalty, teamwork, worldviews, peer pressure, and what it means to be a teenager finding their place in the world. A wonderful show and an equally wonderful cast. It’s safe to say that the Senior Drama Company has made its mark! Thank you for supporting our students on this journey.
Shakespeare Company
At the end of 2023, Mrs. Curtis approached us with the opportunity to direct the 2024 Shakespeare Company. What followed was a year of intense planning and preparation to bring the entirely student-led production of Much Ado About Nothing to life for its August performance dates. Starting at the end of Term 2, students attended weekly rehearsals on Mondays (3:30–5:00 p.m.) to perfect their scenes. As the show dates approached, additional rehearsals were held after school on Thursdays and Fridays to polish the production further. The result was a witty and fantastic evening crafted by us and our talented cast. Our main priority during rehearsals was to ensure that everyone had fun and enjoyed themselves while acting with us. With many cast members new to acting, and some taking their first leap into Shakespeare’s works, we are incredibly grateful and impressed by everyone’s hard work and dedication to achieving their best—even when the tasks seemed daunting. We could not be prouder of our wonderful cast and crew who transformed a brief conversation at last year’s Arts Awards into a fully-fledged, and very real, production for friends and family to enjoy. — Paige Sweetman and Thea Kozak
Stella Voce
Stella Voce, our premier upper-voice choir, attended the Big Sing Upper North Island Cadenza Festival in Rotorua from August 23rd to 26th. They were selected as one of 12 choirs for this prestigious event through their performance at the Big Sing Regional Competition in June. Over the weekend, Stella Voce delivered two competition recitals and participated in workshops with the adjudicator. At the gala concert, Stella Voce was awarded a Tūī ‘Gold’ Award!
