Athletics Day slips in before second lockdown

We are thankful the date for our full school Athletics Day fell between Auckland’s Alert Level 3 lockdowns in February. It is always a great day when our team of over 1600 joins together for a full school activity and it was all the more special considering an event of this size is impossible for many people around the world living under the restrictions associated with COVID-19.

And what a day it was! The sun shone bright for Athletics Day and it was great to see so many people enjoying the full range of social and competitive activities on offer. There was something for everyone. Highlights included the house tug-of-war and non-stop relay as well as the staff and student relay which ended the event. It was a fantastic day for students to connect with each other, their house group and staff.

Student’s participation counted towards official house points from all track, field and non-competitive events, including the LBC mini Relay for Life (held on the same day), tug-of-war, house relay and best dressed staff member and senior student. Preliminary results suggest Takahe House won the day!

A very big thanks goes out to staff and students who worked so hard to make Athletics Day 2021 a great occasion for our school.

The official results from Athletics Day will be made available soon. Look out on our social media pages for updates and to see videos from the day.
