Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra Discovery Concert trip

On Tuesday 18th May, 50 itinerant Music students visited the Auckland Town Hall where they watched a special performance from the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra -Their annual “Discovery Concert.” This concert is put together for an audience of secondary school students for school which are part of the APOPS programme (Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra programme for schools). The 50 Long Bay College students who attended the concert are all learning orchestral instruments through the school. All students enjoyed the varied programme on offer which included works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Strauss, Prokief, Dvorak and Mahler.

 

As part of the APOPS programme, Long Bay College also receives tutoring from members of the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra who come to our Music department to work with ensembles and sectionals within the College.
