Long Bay College is pleased to announce that construction of our new FIH standard all-weather hockey turf has begun.
This exciting project will provide a world-class hockey facility for our students and the wider community, supporting participation, development, and competition at all levels of the sport.
What to Expect
Construction activities will commence shortly, with the initial focus on earthworks and site preparation. The work area will be fully fenced and secured throughout the project, with public access maintained around the perimeter of the site.
As construction progresses, residents, students, and neighbours can expect to see increased activity in the area, including earthmoving equipment, construction vehicles, and truck movements associated with bringing materials to the site.
To minimise disruption to local schools and the community:
-
No heavy vehicle movements will occur between 8.00am and 9.00am or between 2.30pm and 3.30pm on school days.
-
Construction vehicles and equipment will operate within designated work areas and behind secure fencing.
-
Dust will be managed through the use of water trucks and other control measures as required.
-
Measures will be in place to maintain safe access, manage traffic, and keep surrounding roads and footpaths clean.
The approved construction hours are:
- Monday to Friday: 7.30am to 5.00pm
- Saturday: 7.30am to 1.00pm
Some construction noise should be expected during these times, particularly during earthworks activities.
Working Together
Long Bay College and Long Bay Primary School are working closely with the project team to ensure the community is kept informed throughout the construction process. While every effort will be made to minimise disruption, we appreciate the understanding and patience of our neighbours as this significant community asset takes shape.
We look forward to sharing further updates as the project progresses and to welcoming students and the wider community to the completed facility.
