When food becomes art

Students in Year 10 Food Technology recently finished a week of remote learning with a fun activity in their home bubbles. They were challenged to analyse a current food trend where cuisine crosses over with art to deliver a narrative, and to bring in the theme of ‘deconstruction’. The students were asked to focus on the composition and placement of food as a means of celebrating each component in isolation. They learned that each item within a dish plays a role in supporting the other elements in culinary plating. It was a fun task and great to see photos of the students’ creations.
