Dawn walk raises awareness for Cancer Society

It was an early start for a committed group of students and staff who took part in a mini Relay for Life on February 26. The aim was to raise awareness for the Cancer Society’s Auckland Relay for Life later this month. The group met at the College at 6am before walking to Long Bay Regional Park and back throughout the early morning (which equated to approximately three loops).

It was a great day for the event and the group enjoyed watching the sun rise over the beach.  They returned to school in time for the start of Athletics Day.

A bake sale and sausage sizzle was held during Athletics Day to help fundraise for the Cancer Society.

The day’s activities were well supported and it was fantastic to see so many people getting involved to help the cause and also earn house points.

A big thanks goes to Miss Jana Durdevic and hesr team for organising the event and to Food Technology staff and students for creating the delicious bake sale items.

We would also like to thank New World Long Bay for donating the sausages for the sausage sizzle.

Whakanui, maumaharatia, tū atu. Celebrate, remember, fight back.

We hope to see our student’s continued support at the Auckland Relay For Life on Saturday, March 27. Students will be sent links to sign-up for this event this week. Taking part in the event will earn House points.
