Congratulations to our Year 11 student and athlete, Nadia Evans.

Early in February, Nadia competed at the Auckland Track and Field Championships. She won both the U18 100m and 200m, earning two gold medals. Her 200m of time 25.04s was a personal best for the season.

She very recently competed at the Porritt Classic in Hamilton and raced against some of the top female sprinters in New Zealand. She bettered her 200m personal best again in a time of 24.81s. She also competed in the 100m  and was seeded seventh in the top race. Although not a personal best time, she finished the race fifth, beating some senior women competitors for the first time.

Nadia is currently ranked first in NZ in the U18 200m and second in NZ in the U18 100m.

She is looking forward to competing at the National Track and Field Championships in early March. She will be competing in the U18 category in the 100m and 200m and will likely be part of their 4 x 100m relay team as well.

Nadia was selected for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Athletics team to compete at the Australian Athletics Championships in March. She will be competing in the 100m and 200m in the U17 girls age group and likely to be competing in the U18 4 x 100m relay team.

While representing Long Bay College at the NZSSAA Track, Field and Road Race Championships held December 2019, Nadia placed second in the Junior Girls 100m earning herself a silver medal.
