Last term, 100 Dance students in Years 9 to 13 were delighted to watch the New Zealand Dance Company perform at the College. Six principal dancers completed a 50 minute set that was titled ‘Matariki for Tamariki’. Through their performance, they told the story of Matariki from beginning to end explaining what each star means through movement. The dance was full of laughter, props, singing and stunning, elite dancing.
Following the performance, two Dance Company members held a workshop with our Level 3 Dance class. The students learnt techniques and repertoire from the show and appreciated the opportunity to learn from the elite dancers and expand their knowledge about contemporary dance.
