Premier Boys Basketball vie for top league position

The Premier Boys Basketball competed in a tough match on June 19 in their bid to secure a promotion to the College Sport Auckland Premier league for 2020.

The Long Bay side started the stronger team going in at the end of the first quarter ahead 19 -12. Liston came out firing in the second quarter with seven quick unanswered points, drawing them level. Liston continued to build pressure and led by six points at half time

Keegan Hall, Luca Becker and Tim Stumbles kept the scoreboard moving in the third quarter but Liston really got into their rhythm, pouring on the points to be comfortably ahead at the end of the third quarter. Long Bay outscored Liston in the final quarter by five points.

In the final score, Liston College won 67 to Long Bay’s 50 points. Top scorers were George De Felice with 11, Keegan Hall with 10, Ethan Clifford with eight and Luca Becker seven points.

The boys will now play in the Senior A division for the season and we wish them well for their game against Mt Roskill on June 26.
