SPEC has a great end of year

Our SPEC group have enjoyed the variety of activities during their end of term programme. There has been Drama with Mr Fannon and Mr Perkins, Dance, Art, Science, Maths, PE, English and Music.

Sageman Magician (performed by one of our former students) put on a show and students also learnt about how to be a spy from local author, Peter Millett.

In Science, students made playdough, volcanoes and lava lamps. On another day, students challenged the Teacher Aides to a Basketball game and won 10-8.

Long Bay Regional Park was beautified by a beach clean-up and students heard from School Community Officer, Senior Constable Tania Wansink, who spoke about how and when to call the police and tips about how to keep themselves safe in the community.

Students also enjoyed a trip to Tawharanui Regional Park to learn about New Zealand native birds. They were joined by two Tawharanui Open Sanctuary Society volunteers who provided education about native birds and pests that threaten them. A walk along the Ecology Trail completed a fantastic day out.

The year wrapped up with our College Principal, Mr CJ Healey, presenting certificates to some of the students for their work and achievements this year.

Many thanks to everyone who helped to create an awesome programme. It was a lot of fun.
