A week of exciting competition at Summer Tournament

Our sports teams had a fantastic week of competition, showcasing talent, determination, and plenty of promise for the future!

Water Polo Our Water Polo team faced some tough competition, showing that this young team is full of potential. A highlight of the week was their thrilling victory over Northcote, a testament to their hard work and resilience. With the junior season set to kick off in Term 2, we are eager to see this team continue to develop and achieve new heights.

Volleyball Boys The Boys’ Volleyball team took on fierce competition at Netball North Harbour, where an electric atmosphere pushed them to deliver outstanding performances. They finished strong, securing two wins on the final day. With a squad predominantly made up of Year 11 students, the team’s future looks incredibly bright.

Volleyball Girls After a season of adjustments following the departure of key Year 13 players, our Girls’ Volleyball team traveled to Palmerston North for their tournament. They rose to the occasion, finishing second in their division final—a fantastic achievement! As several more players graduate this year, this success was a fitting way to celebrate their contributions to the team and send them off in style.

Basketball 3×3 Boys Our 3×3 Boys’ Basketball team had an incredible tournament, finishing 6th in the highly competitive Auckland regionals. Their standout performances included a dominant win over Rangitoto. A huge thank you to our exceptional coaching team—Justin Bailey, who also coaches the Auckland Tuatara, and Jacob Jones-Harvey, our Head of LBC Basketball—for their leadership and dedication. The boys have a big season ahead, we are excited to see what this team will accomplish next!

Finally, we extend our gratitude to our Year 13 athletes who have played their final seasons. Your dedication, commitment and passion for representing Long Bay College with pride have been truly inspiring. Thank you for all you have contributed to our sporting community!

Well done to all our teams, and we look forward to even more success in the coming weeks!
