Celebrating a Successful Term 2 at Long Bay College

As we wrap up Term 2, we want to take a moment to thank our incredible staff and students for their dedication, energy, and spirit, which includes the efforts from whānau. It’s been a term filled with outstanding achievements, memorable events, and moments that have brought immense pride to our LBC community.
A particular highlight was Long Bay College’s first-ever participation in Polyfest, which was a proud milestone for our whānau and a celebration of our diverse cultures and identities. We also saw phenomenal success at Showquest Regionals, where LBC placed 1st, receiving awards for Excellence in Drama, Excellence in Dance, and Recognition in Music. Our team was even featured on TVNZ Breakfast, showcasing the talent and creativity that defines Long Bay College.
Our Stella Voce choir shone at The Big Sing Auckland Regionals, earning a Commendation for a Performance of a New Zealand or Pasifika Composition or Arrangement. The term has been rich with artistic expression and performance, including: Shakespeare performances at the SGCNZ National Festival, A Shakespeare staging of Romeo and Juliet, Outstanding contributions to Smokefree Rockquest, Showquest Toi, and the Vocal Showcase, The magical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory production on the LBC stage and the intense and thought-provoking Too Much Punch for Judy and senior drama performances.
In addition to the arts, we acknowledged key social and community initiatives such as Pink Shirt Day and Relay for Life, where three of our staff members took an incredible leap—literally—by skydiving to raise funds for cancer support.
Our sports teams have also made us incredibly proud, achieving top results at the Auckland Athletics Championships, Summer Tournament Week, NZ Swimming Championships, BMX NZ Championships, Cheerleading, Wrestling, Golden Gloves, Orienteering, and Judo Championships.
An especially exciting milestone was our first-ever entry into the 2025 Youth College Games CrossFit Competition, where our Senior Girls Team walked away with 1st place. We couldn’t be prouder — Go LBC!
To end the term, our Matariki celebrations gave us the opportunity to pause, reflect, and look ahead to the second half of our school year with renewed energy and purpose.
Looking forward, Term 3 promises to be another busy and exciting chapter, beginning with Enrolments and our Open Evening on Wednesday, the 16 July. Be sure to follow us on social media for updates and upcoming event highlights.
Wishing everyone a safe, restful, and well-deserved term break. We look forward to an exciting and successful Term 3.
