We are now halfway through Term 3, and what a busy five weeks it has been! We have had plenty of success across several of our different sporting codes, with more still to come with ‘Winter Tournament Week’ coming up in week 7. Take a look at what our student-athletes and teams have been up to so far this term:
Swimming
- Liam Curling, Year 10:
Liam competed at the NZ Secondary Schools Swimming Competition. Liam won gold in the 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly, and silver in the 50m Backstroke and 100m individual medley. Liam also set another New Zealand record in the 50m Freestyle.
Hockey
- Zoe Ellis, Year 13:
Zoe’s North Harbour Under-18 Representative Team came 1st at the Nationals. Zoe has also recently been selected to play in the National Hockey Championship with the North Harbour B women’s team.
Orienteering
- Emily Glasson and Georgia Stanton, Year 9:
Both Emily and Georgia competed in the Auckland Schools Rogain Orienteering Team Championships, coming away with a bronze. Georgia Stanton also came away with bronze in the Individual Orienteering Individual Event in the Junior Girls division.
- Lyla Turner, Year 11:
Lyla came 1st in the Auckland Secondary Schools Orienteering Individual Championship event, where she competed in the Intermediate Girl’s division.
- Soyul In, Year 9:
Soyul finished 2nd in the Auckland Secondary Schools Orienteering Individual Championship event in the junior girl’s category.
Netball
- Lucia Sanna and Regan Leith, Year 9:
Lucia and Regan were selected for the North Harbour U14A Netball Representative team, which competed at the Nationals in Taranaki over the school holidays, placing third overall.
- Year 9/Team 1 Netball:
Our Year 9/1 netball girls competed in the top year 9 division across the North Shore, finishing 2nd overall.
Distance Running
- Georgia Stanton, Emily Glasson and Scarlett Gliddon, Year 9:
Our junior girls finished second at the College Sports Auckland Championship Road Race Event in the junior division.
Softball
- Abi Church, Year 12
Abi has been selected to represent New Zealand with the Junior White Sox softball team on a tour of California at the end of this term.
Rock Climbing
- Alena Oparina
Aleana competed in the Auckland Rock Climbing Series coming away with 3rd place in round 4 and 5th in the Series Championship for Senior Girls.
Football
- Football XI Girls
Our XI Football girls made it to the finals in their division for the first time ever and came away with 2nd place overall.
Well done to all of our athletes for their amazing efforts and achievements. We look forward to celebrating more sporting success throughout the rest of the term. We would also like to wish our Football, Hockey, Netball and Curling teams’ good luck at the winter tournament.
